Finally Bringing A New Site Online

Finally Bringing A New Site Online

After spending way too much time in maintenance mode, and not being able to show potential customers some of the work we have done, a new site design has been created and updated.

I know it’s not a good idea to have pages with no content active, but the site is still evolving, and I wanted to get our primary focus out there.

We are still trying to figure out how to incorporate Twitter and Facebook development into the site. These are really social networking sites, so the applications are built upon their API’s and data streams. More on those subjects later.

Install WordPress On Windows Using Microsoft WAI

Install WordPress On Windows Using Microsoft WAI

Yesterday Matt Mullenweg, founder and original developer of WordPress, posted a great link to a new installation program from Microsoft, called Web Application Installer, that will allow someone to install WordPress on a Windows machine using IIS. However, this isn’t a straight forward solution.

First, manual installation instructions for WordPress on IIS can be found here.

Second, if you don’t have the supporting applications required to run WordPress, namely PHP and MySQL, you will be asked to install them first. Installing these two applications isn’t necessarily hard, but I would have liked to see them included in the installer provided by Microsoft.

Once I had the supporting applications running, the install worked fairly well. I know Microsoft can’t look at this as becoming a major supporter of Open Source , because its a long way from that. But it is a good first step. I’ll try and get a full installation review up later.

PressDev Logo

Logo examplesEvery good company has a logo. Some logos are branded so well you can see it and instantly know what the company is. We are working on such a logo. We could really use some input. Like:

What colors make a great logo?
Should you include an image in your logo?
Should you include your company name AND slogan in your logo?

What do you think?
